What it is

About AngelMinds

AngelMinds connects people with trained and certified AngelMinds — non-clinical supporters who listen without judgment, offer supportive first contact and help you identify safe next steps and resources. You are connected with an assigned AngelMind, and you can request a different one at any time, for any reason.

How it works

  • You are matched with an assigned AngelMind who listens and helps you name what is happening.
  • Together you identify practical, safe next steps and the resources available near you.
  • You can request a different AngelMind whenever you want — no explanation needed.
  • If you agree to it, your AngelMind helps connect you onward and checks whether the contact actually happened.

Who it helps

Anyone who needs to talk to a real person before, alongside or instead of a formal service — including people who are unsure whether what they are feeling 'counts', and people who have been let down by services before.

How it connects to support

AngelMinds is the human doorway into the rest of the Foundation: onward to Strangers Care when hardship is the barrier, HelpMe2 for substance-use support, a BridgeMinds partner for professional or protective services, or local emergency services when someone is in immediate danger.

Where it operates

Across the Mental Help Foundation network — Mental Help America, Mental Help Africa and all five African country branches.

AngelMinds Academy

AngelMinds Academy is the training arm of the AngelMinds program. It trains, assesses, certifies, supervises and recertifies every AngelMind operating anywhere in the Foundation network.

  • Structured training in safe listening, boundaries and scope of practice
  • Assessment and certification before any live supportive conversation
  • Ongoing supervision, debriefing and continuing education
  • Recertification on a defined cycle, adapted to local language and law

Certification is organisational and non-clinical. It is never professional licensure and never implies clinical authority.

Safety and boundaries

What AngelMinds are not

AngelMinds do not diagnose, prescribe, provide therapy or replace clinicians or emergency services. They are trained, supervised, non-clinical supporters — and they are clear about that boundary in every conversation.

We can

  • Listen without judgment and help you name what is happening
  • Share accurate, plain-language mental health information
  • Help you identify trusted people and supports around you
  • Explain referral options, their limits and known costs
  • Connect you to a partner service with your consent
  • Check back on whether the contact happened

We cannot

  • Diagnose a mental health or substance use condition
  • Prescribe or change medication
  • Provide psychotherapy or clinical treatment
  • Provide emergency or crisis response
  • Promise confidentiality where safety exceptions apply
